VAT Add to cart .. Karate and contact karate are **two very distinct disciplines**. Both are practiced on a tatami, but they have several differences. First, contact karate, as its name suggests, is a **blend of karate and full-contact**. It was created in the 1980s by Dominique Valera. This is a relatively young martial art that quickly found its place in the hearts of athletes! Additionally, while karate is mainly a **discipline of control** without actual strikes, contact karate allows **kicks and punches**. That’s why there are two different types of gloves for these two very distinct disciplines! The **karate glove**, also known as the **karate mitt** due to its **open palm** design, is very useful for absorbing impacts and protecting your opponent at the same time. Contact karate gloves, on the other hand, are nothing like mitts. They look like boxing gloves and allow you to **strike your opponent** while protecting your hands. ### Our Karate Gloves As specialists in combat sports and martial arts, we offer two models of karate gloves. They are available in **two colors**: [red](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/karate/karate-gloves) or [blue](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/karate/karate-gloves). Choose according to your preferences! These gloves are similar to mitts and keep the **palm of your hand ventilated** to prevent sweat and unpleasant odors. Both models are made of PU, or polyurethane, a very strong and abrasion-resistant material for training sessions. Thanks to this material, your karate gloves offer **excellent durability**! To absorb shocks and protect your hands, they are padded with **high-quality injected foam**. This reduces the risk of injury, so you can keep training no matter what! Finally, the closure is done with a wide **velcro strap**, providing excellent support. Plus, this closure system is very quick and easy to use. Put on and take off your gloves in no time! For your safety, **the thumb is attached**. In addition, these karate gloves are **compliant with C.E standards**. But that’s not all! They also meet the requirements of the **French Karate Federation** (FFK). You can use them in official competitions. These karate gloves are recommended by **Johan Lopes**, **Mathieu Cossou**, and **Gwendoline Philippe**, three big names in French karate! With these gloves, you’ll be able to train like champions with the best equipment at the best value! ### Our Contact Karate Gloves We also offer **contact karate gloves**! They are different from classic karate gloves: they cover the entire hand, not just the top. These are true gloves! For the material, you have two options: **[synthetic leather](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/product/red-leather-karate-contact-gloves-noris)**, or [genuine leather](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/karate/karate-gloves). While genuine leather ensures excellent durability, synthetic leather is much more affordable. Plus, each version is available **in red or blue**. Choose the material and color that best suit your needs and preferences. The thumb of these contact karate gloves is attached to the boxing glove. This way, you **reduce the risk of twisting and injury**. You’re in good hands! And to ensure excellent stability once worn, these gloves are equipped with a **wide velcro strap**. Now you have no excuse not to train with dedication and perseverance! Finally, thanks to their design, these gloves are very **comfortable to wear**. With small holes in the palm, you benefit from **good ventilation** and reduce the risk of mold or bacteria. Most importantly, you avoid unpleasant odors! For extra protection and to prevent injuries during your training and sparring, it is highly recommended to wear [karate or contact karate protection gear](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/karate/karate-protective-gear).
