# Is Oleksandr Usyk Returning to the Ring Soon?

Ukrainian boxer **Olexsandr Usyk** has not fought since September 25, 2021, the day of his bout against **Anthony Joshua**. In that match, he claimed victory by **unanimous** decision at Tottenham Stadium in London.

## Oleksandr Usyk on the front line

![Olexsandr Usyk](https://www.budo-fight.com/upload/images/Usyk-GettyImages-1180866300.jpg)@BoxingNewsThe fight was originally scheduled for spring 2022 and was one of the most anticipated events in the boxing world. However, with recent developments in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, President **Volodymyr Zelensky** recently declared a **general mobilization** for all Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60, requiring them to remain in the country to serve in the military if needed.

**Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk**, like other athletes from the country, chose to **pause** his career to join the territorial defense of the **Ukrainian capital**. Many were disappointed to see the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk postponed following Usyk’s departure to the Ukrainian front line.

## June 11: Joshua vs. Usyk rematch?

After spending several weeks alongside fellow fighters, **Usyk** has reportedly just received authorization from the **Ukrainian Ministry of Sports** to leave the country’s armed forces and travel to Los Angeles to prepare for his **rematch** against Joshua. This fight would give him the opportunity to defend his **WBO, WBA, and IBF heavyweight world champion** titles.

This **contractual** rematch could soon be officially scheduled for **June 11**. Rumors suggest it could once again take place in **London**, Anthony Joshua’s home country.

Boxing fans can only cross their gloves and hope the event becomes a reality!
