Découvrir → budo-fight.com Published on **June 18, 2018** # Boxing Gloves Size Guide How do you choose your gloves when practicing a combat sport? Essential for **protecting your hands**, they are used both during training and in fights. These explanations will help you choose your size from our [boxing gloves](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/boxing/boxing-gloves), as well as from our [punching bag gloves](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/boxing/striking-equipment/punching-bag-gloves) and [MMA gloves](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/mma/mma-gloves). Follow the guide! ## How to Choose Your Boxing Gloves? The size of your hand does not necessarily determine the size of your boxing gloves: you should mainly choose them based on your **weight** and your **practice**. Note that boxing glove size is measured in **ounces** or **oz**, a unit of weight that represents the thickness of the glove. For your information, 1 ounce equals 28.349 g. So you will **not find S, M, or L sizes** among our gloves! ## The Weight of Your Boxing Gloves The heavier the gloves, the more they work your arms and shoulders. Want to **build muscle** and work on your cardio? Choose a larger size like our [Adidas Hybrid 500 boxing gloves](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/boxing/boxing-gloves). Want to **improve your speed** above all? Opt for a smaller, lighter size like our **[Budo-Fight leather boxing gloves](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/product/pro-spectral-lace-up-boxing-gloves-100-leather)**. **Glove Weight According to Your Profile** **Ounces** **Grams** **Information** 6 oz 170 g For children 8 oz 226.28 g For children 10 oz 283.5 g Small adult hands, reserved for training (light padding) 12 oz 340.2 g Ideal for training 14 oz 397 g Average glove weight 16 oz 453.6 g Average glove weight 18 oz 510.3 g Very heavy and padded, for larger builds As you can see: there is no difference between women's boxing gloves and men's models. For [kids' boxing gloves](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/boxing/kids-boxing-gloves), 2 sizes are available: 4oz (ages 4-6) or 6oz (ages 6-8). ## Your Boxing Gloves According to the Discipline It should also be noted that **depending on the discipline**, the relevant federation will require a fixed glove weight in competition based on your weight category, to ensure fairness. So it's best to choose the right glove size from the start! **Glove Weight According to Your Practice** **8 oz** **10 oz** **12 oz** **English Boxing Gloves (Amateur)** - All categories - **English Boxing Gloves (Professional)** - 72 kg + 72 kg - **MMA Gloves** - 63 kg - 79 kg + 79 kg **Kickboxing Gloves** - 67 kg + 67 kg - **French Boxing Gloves** - 63 kg - 79 kg + 79 kg On Budo-Fight, find the best sports brands at low prices: [Venum boxing gloves](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/product/venum-giant-30-boxing-gloves-nappa-leather), Adidas, Metal Boxe, or Everlast… Now that you know your boxing glove size, you can be sure your pair will last **for many years**.
