Designed according to the new 2012-2015 safety regulations required by the **Sports Commission** of the **WKF**. You can also complete your **chest guard** with [karate mitts](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/product/ffk-karate-gloves) and [FFK foot guards](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/catalog/karate). **Sizes:** - S: up to 155 cm - M: up to 170 cm - L: up to 185 cm - XL: up to 195 cm **PLEASE NOTE:** this chest guard fits a bit tight. We recommend choosing at least one size up from your usual size, depending on your build. You'll then look just like a character from [the Cobra Kai series](https://www.budo-fight.com/en/news/news-new-arrivals/answers-to-the-questions-youve-always-had-about-cobra-kai-karate)! ## Why use a WKF karate chest guard? WKF karate chest guards are approved for **international competition**. They have been declared compliant with the rules of the WKF, **the World Karate Federation**. Without a WKF-certified karate protector, you won't be able to participate in many tournaments! ## What is a karate chest guard? Well known among contact karate practitioners, a karate chest guard is a protective gear **worn under the karate gi**. It absorbs and disperses the impact from your opponent’s strikes. It also allows your skin to breathe and wicks away sweat. Did you know? **Karate chest guards are unisex**: there is no difference between models for men or women. The same goes for karate uniforms in general! ## Who should wear a karate chest guard? **Young karatekas** (minimes, poussins, and pupilles) are required to wear a karate chest guard during competitions. Their bones are more fragile than adults', so they need even better protection from their karate gear. Adults practicing **contact karate**, **semi-contact**, or **light contact** should also be equipped with karate chest guards. The abdomen, ribs, and sternum are then **well protected** from kicks and punches, helping karatekas avoid potentially serious injuries. View original View translation **Virginie Decaen** I recommend this product M Perfect Impec 7 years ago The product appears to be of good quality, in line with what is advertised on the website. Considering the price, it's perfect. Otherwise, the XL size I chose based on the website's recommendations was much too large for me (I am 180/72). Budo Fight exchanged it for a size L without any fuss.
